Workshop Abstract

Title: Documenting Intelligence: Exploring AI Integration in Contemporary Documentary Filmmaking

This workshop delves into the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of documentary filmmaking. As AI technologies continue to reshape creative industries, documentary filmmakers are increasingly integrating machine learning, generative algorithms, and data-driven tools into their production processes. From automated archival research and intelligent editing systems to synthetic voiceovers and AI-generated imagery, this workshop explores how AI is redefining the boundaries of nonfiction storytelling. Participants will examine real-world case studies, engage in critical discussions on ethical implications, and gain hands-on exposure to current AI-based tools used in documentary creation. The session aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue between filmmakers, technologists, and scholars, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges of AI-assisted storytelling in documenting human reality.

Workshop Abstract
Title: Using AI in Communication and Media Research

This workshop explores the rapidly expanding role of artificial intelligence (AI) in communication and media research. As AI technologies such as natural language processing, machine learning, and image recognition become more accessible, researchers are increasingly using these tools to analyze large datasets, automate content analysis, track media trends, and uncover hidden patterns in communication behaviors. The session will introduce participants to key AI methods applicable to media studies, including sentiment analysis, topic modeling, audience analytics, and social media monitoring. It will also address ethical considerations such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, and the impact of automation on scholarly practices. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, this workshop aims to equip researchers with a foundational understanding of how AI can enhance, challenge, and transform traditional approaches in communication and media research.
